Rear Admiral (Ret.) Massimo Esposito is currently Vice President of AFCEA International and General Manager AFCEA Europe. He has served in the Italian Navy for more than 30 years, where has developed an extensive experience in the preparation and execution of Operations and Plans and three command tours on board different warships. His professional background also includes a deep knowledge of Naval warfare and Maritime security, as well as on Policy development and Strategic Analysis.

He has spent more than 10 years in NATO and EU, focusing his work in the field of the Hybrid/Cognitive dimensions, Cyber Warfare, and Intelligence, with particular focus on new technologies and their effects on future warfare. From an academic perspective, he has been Teacher and Senior researcher at the Italian Joint Staff College, and Director of the Centre for Maritime Studies at the Italian Naval Staff College.

He earned a Master of Arts in Defense Studies from King’s College in London and in International, Strategic and Military studies from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome (Italy). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Lecce (Italy), a Bachelor of Science in Naval and Maritime science from the University of Pisa (Italy) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Trieste (Italy). He has also successfully attended the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham (U.K).
