Currently, dr Nikola Tanic is Assistant Minister in charge of Science in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia. He was in charge for the organization and realization of the National Programme ‘For Women in Science’. In addition, he is the member of working group responsible for the negotiation of the Chapter 25 within the process of country’s integration into EU.

Graduated at the Faculty of Biology, Department of Molecular Biology and Physiology, University of Belgrade, Serbia. He did his Master and PhD theses at the Institute for Biological Research “Sinisa Stankovic”, University of Belgrade. In 2011 dr Nikola Tanic became the Principal Scientist at the Institute for Biological Research “Sinisa Stankovic”, University of Belgrade. His main research interests are: molecular mechanisms of cancer promotion and progression; molecular markers of cancer progression and response to therapy; mechanisms of acquiring and overcoming multi-drug resistance. Moreover, dr Nikola Tanic is appointed as Associated Professor at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade since 2008 and is engaged in PhD studies. He is the member of many national and international scientific organizations and boards.
