
Dr. Barak Bouks, Ph.D. (Bar-Ilan University, 2016), specializes in Arab Media (Focusing in Middle-Eastern regional media), culminating with the combination of Media, New-Media and the Middle-East and Religion & Terror, as he inaugurated a media DX’ing project (Media Database Project 2017 C), serving as a basis for significant publications. Dr. Bouks serves as Head, at the Paterson Chair in Security and Intelligence (following a significant tenure as a senior research fellow at the Europa Institute), and a lecturer at the School of Communication & Department of Political Studies of Bar-Ilan University, Israel. As a part of his work, he monitored the war in Ukraine and published articles based on relevant media & new media reports (Ukraine & Russia), the October 2023 & Iran-Israel wars in the Middle-East. Dr. Bouks is internationally recognized media & security expert, and attended many domestic and regional conferences, culminating with Zagreb Security Forum. Among other things, he won a scholarship, to attend and present a paper, at UCSIA’s Summer school, The University of Antwerp, Belgium, Under the theme “Is Faith-based Violence Religious” and served as committee member of the Jabotinsky Prize for Literature and Research; a peer reviewer for the journals Terrorism and Political Violence, Religion State and Society & Conflict Management and Peace Science; an Editorial Team Member and the Head of a consulting refereed regulation team, of the Scientific Journal “Security Science Journal”, published by the Institute for National and International Security (Serbia) & The Europa Institute (Bar-Ilan University, Israel), The Research Institute for European and American Studies – RIEAS (Greece) and ITS – Institute for Transnational Studies (Germany). Also, Dr. Bouks serves as a commentator in the Israeli & International media: Radio: Reshet Bet, Reka, Makan & Galei Tzahal; ARD, Germany, Israeli TV Channels (11,12, 13, 14, Y Net TV, I24 News), International TV as Czech National TV, as well as Israeli newspapers (Y Net, Haaretz, Globes, The Jerusalem Post & Times of Israel) & international newspapers (Nacional, Croatia & La Stampa, Italy).
