Macerata, Italy – Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Ivanov, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for National and International Security (INIS) and Professor of Security Studies at the University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Bitola, is participating in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) entitled “Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Climate Change Adaptation Processes Towards More Sustainable Societies,” hosted by the University of Macerata, Italy.

The international programme brings together students and academics from universities across the Adriatic region, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable development, climate adaptation, environmental protection, and cultural heritage. Through collaborative workshops, lectures, and academic discussions, participants are exploring innovative approaches to addressing contemporary global challenges.

As part of the Landscape and Environment session, Prof. Dr. Ivanov delivered a lecture entitled “The Evolution of Environmental Security: From Ecological Foundations to Digital Resilience.” His presentation examined the evolution of environmental security from its traditional ecological perspective toward emerging challenges associated with digital resilience, technological transformation, and the growing complexity of modern security environments. The lecture generated an engaging discussion among participants and highlighted the increasing importance of integrating environmental and security studies within contemporary academic research.

The programme is organized within the framework of the UniAdrion network and hosted by the University of Macerata, providing an excellent platform for strengthening international academic cooperation, promoting student mobility, and encouraging interdisciplinary research.
