The Institute for National and International Security (INIS) is pleased to highlight the participation of our distinguished member, Prof. Liliana Popescu, in a special event organized by the Atlantic Council in Bucharest, dedicated to European and transatlantic security and defence cooperation.

The event brought together senior representatives from Romania and Germany for a discussion on the evolving security environment and the importance of strengthening bilateral, European, and transatlantic cooperation.

The panel featured Ana Cristina Tinca, State Secretary at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Angela Ganninger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania. The discussion was moderated by Monica Moanea, senior journalist at Euronews Romania specializing in foreign affairs.

A particularly noteworthy feature of the event was its all-female panel, bringing prominent female voices in diplomacy, security, and international affairs to the forefront of a discussion on some of the most important challenges facing Europe today.

The conversation focused on Romanian-German bilateral relations, European security and defence, transatlantic cooperation, and the need for stronger coordination among European and NATO partners at a time of profound geopolitical and security transformation.

Prof. Popescu’s participation reflects the active international engagement of INIS members and the Institute’s commitment to connecting experts, academics, diplomats, and security practitioners across Europe and beyond.

With members and partners from numerous countries, INIS continues to support professional dialogue and international cooperation on security, intelligence, defence, and contemporary geopolitical challenges.

We congratulate our colleague Prof. Liliana Popescu on her continued contribution to international academic and security dialogue and are proud to have her as part of the INIS international network.
