The Institute for National and International Security (INIS) successfully held today the second international webinar dedicated to the development of the Security Science Indexation (SSI), a new specialized global indexation framework for journals in the fields of security, defence, and intelligence studies.
The webinar brought together scientists and academics from 16 countries, including renowned experts, senior researchers, and editors of international scientific journals, confirming the strong international interest in and support for the SSI initiative. The discussion focused on proposed criteria for journal evaluation, ethical standards, transparency, and the long-term vision of building a domain-specific, expert-driven indexation system tailored to Security Science as a distinct academic discipline.
Participants emphasized the importance of creating an evaluation framework designed by experts, for experts, one that reflects the epistemological, methodological, and ethical specificities of security and defence research, rather than relying solely on generic multidisciplinary indexation models.
During the webinar, it was reiterated that SSI is conceived as a collective founding project, with all participating experts invited to contribute through comments, suggestions, and concrete proposals that will shape the final criteria and future metrics. The next phase will include a structured review of expert feedback and the preparation of an updated version of the evaluation framework.
The strong international participation and high level of discussion once again confirmed that SSI has the potential to become a globally recognized reference point for academic quality, integrity, and excellence in Security Science.
INIS will continue organizing expert consultations and webinars as part of the SSI founding process and invites all interested scholars, editors, and institutions to actively take part in this initiative.
