The Institute for National and International Security (INIS) extends its sincere congratulations to our distinguished member, Professor Swaran Singh, on the completion of his remarkable academic career at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where he officially retired on 31 August 2026 after more than 25 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Singh has been one of India’s leading scholars in international relations, contributing significantly to the study of Asian geopolitics, strategic affairs, diplomacy, and global governance. As a professor at JNU and former Visiting Professor at the University of British Columbia, he has educated and mentored generations of scholars while supervising more than 100 MPhil and PhD researchers, many of whom have gone on to become prominent academics and policy experts.

His retirement marks not the end of an academic journey, but the beginning of a new chapter of continued intellectual engagement. As Professor Singh himself noted, “the journey continues, and my work shall go on.”

INIS is proud to count Professor Swaran Singh among its international members and looks forward to continuing our cooperation through research, conferences, publications, and the further development of Security Science and international security studies.

We congratulate Professor Singh on an extraordinary academic legacy and wish him continued success in the years ahead.
