The Institute for National and International Security (INIS) actively participated in a high-level international webinar titled “How the World Sees Balen’s Leadership in Nepal,” held on 29 April 2026 and organized by the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE), under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Pramod Jaiswal.
This important global forum brought together a wide range of distinguished experts, diplomats, and scholars from Asia, Europe, and the United States, offering a comprehensive international perspective on Nepal’s evolving political leadership and its broader regional and global implications.
According to the official program, the event brought together participants from multiple continents, including senior diplomats, academic leaders, and security experts, reflecting its truly global character. A particularly important aspect of this international gathering was the strong presence of INIS members, confirming the Institute’s growing global influence and active engagement in international strategic dialogue.
Among the prominent INIS representatives, Prof. Dr. Darko Trifunović, Director of INIS, spoke, contributing his expertise in security and intelligence studies to the discussion. In addition, Prof. Dr. Zhang Jiadong, a highly respected scholar from Fudan University and an INIS member, was among the key speakers, further strengthening the Institute’s international academic footprint.
The webinar featured an impressive lineup of global speakers, including the former Deputy National Security Advisor of India, Amb. Pankaj Saran, experts from leading institutions, including the Pacific Forum, Hudson Institute, and the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, as well as diplomats, UN advisors, and scholars from Europe, Asia, and the Indo-Pacific region.
Discussions during the webinar focused on how Nepal’s leadership is perceived globally, particularly regarding governance, regional stability, geopolitical positioning, and international cooperation. The diversity of perspectives—from strategic, diplomatic, academic, and policy-oriented viewpoints—provided a comprehensive and multidimensional understanding of Nepal’s current political trajectory.
The presence of INIS members in such a globally representative forum once again demonstrated the Institute’s role as a relevant and recognized actor in the discourse on international security and strategic studies. Their participation contributed to the exchange of ideas on governance, leadership, and security dynamics in South Asia and reinforced the importance of Security Science as an integrative analytical framework. The successful organization of the event by Prof. Dr. Pramod Jaiswal and NIICE further confirmed Nepal’s growing importance as a platform for international strategic dialogue.
