Two security science students from the Czech Republic recently had a unique opportunity to complete a practical internship at the Institute for National and International Security (INIS). This exceptional experience provided them with an insider’s perspective on the daily operations of security professionals.

During the semester, one student fully engaged in a practical internship at INIS through the Erasmus+ program. Simultaneously, the other student divided his time between INIS and his exchange studies at the University of Belgrade.

During their internships at INIS, the students delved deep into various facets of security science. From extremism and Islamic radicalism to terrorism, counterterrorism, and Russian malign influence in the Balkans, they gained deep understanding to some of the most pressing topics in the field. They also had the unique opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on intelligence methods through various lectures with Prof. Dr. Darko Trifunovic, and to attend a specialized course on risk assessment with Prof. Dr. Zoran Dragisic.

Beyond the mentioned activities, the students attended numerous security conferences and lectures organized by INIS for local political science students. In addition, they had the chance to connect with esteemed academics, professionals, and INIS members from around the world, significantly broadening their perspectives on security issues.

This internship not only equipped them with invaluable knowledge but also provided a platform to network with leading experts in the field, setting a strong foundation for their future careers in security science.
